How the estimate is worked out
The rate solar can cut. Your bill, less its fixed and demand charges, divided by your units. Fixed and demand charges stay on the bill whatever the plant produces, so counting them as savings would overstate the report.
The size, from the smallest of four limits. Your consumption, your DISCOM's cap on rooftop solar against your sanctioned load or contract demand, the state's net-metering ceiling where there is one, and your shadow-free roof at 100 sq.ft per kW. The report shows each limit and names the one that binds. A limit it could not check — because you left a box empty, or because a state's rules are not yet configured here — is listed, never filled in with a guess.
Generation uses the planning band for your region, with its seasonal shape: North India is 120 units per kW a month, with a December–January fog dip. A site survey replaces it with your roof's own tilt, shading and orientation.
Money. The 25-year model is the one behind our solar calculator: 0.5% module degradation a year, a 3% yearly rise in the grid tariff, O&M at 1% of cost, and an inverter replacement in year 12. Saving is counted only on units your site uses. Cost is our approved budget band for turnkey C&I rooftop solar, ₹24,000–₹32,000 per kW, excluding GST (price version 2026.10.2); payback is shown across that band rather than as one number.
Punjab rules built in (checked 2026-10-04 from the PSERC rooftop regulations as amended in April 2026): net metering up to 100% of sanctioned load or contract demand (kVA × 0.9), measured as inverter AC rating, to a maximum of 500 kWp. Other states' rules are not configured yet, so their reports cap at the sanctioned load itself and say so.
What this is not: not a design, a quotation, a guaranteed saving or an assurance that any approval will be granted. Home connections get generation and saving only — our price band is for factories and businesses; homes should see solar for your home.
