What an engineer looks at: a suitable system size range for your site; how much of your roof is realistically usable once shading, skylights and walkways are taken out; how much of your consumption falls in daylight hours, because that is what solar can actually offset; an indicative investment range; and the engineering checks that come next — sanctioned-load headroom, roof structure and the DISCOM route for your district.
Assumptions we state rather than hide: generation figures are modelled from regional averages, not measured at your site. Indicative costs are exclusive of GST and exclude roof strengthening, HT-side works, battery storage and statutory fees.
What this is not: not a detailed engineering design, not a guaranteed saving, not an assurance that any approval will be granted, and not a commitment to a site visit. Your connected load is not the same as the solar capacity you can install, and solar offsets energy charges — it does not make an entire bill disappear. Where a number depends on something we have not seen, we will say so rather than assume it.
A solar company in Ludhiana that is also your electrical contractor
On a factory roof, the panels are the simple part. What decides whether the plant performs is the electrical work behind it — and that is the work our team does on industrial plants every day, alongside HT/LT electrical systems and fire protection.
- Roof and structure review — shed purlins, RCC slabs, skylights and walkways, and what the roof can carry.
- Sizing — from your bill, your daytime load and your sanctioned load, not from roof area alone.
- Electrical integration — the LT panel tie-in, protection, earthing and lightning protection.
- DG interaction — changeover and protection so the inverters and the DG set do not fight.
- Installation and commissioning — then the net-metering and electrical-safety submissions that apply.
From your bill to a commissioned plant
- Enquiry and bill review. We read your bill for tariff, sanctioned load and how much you use.
- Site survey. Roof, structure, the electrical room and the cable route.
- Proposal. Size, layout, a generation estimate with its assumptions, and a price that states its tax basis and exclusions.
- Approvals. We prepare and file the PSPCL application, and the inspectorate submission where it applies.
- Installation and commissioning, planned around your shutdown windows.
- Handover and aftercare — with an AMC if you want one.
PSPCL net metering and the approvals in Ludhiana
We prepare and file the submissions and follow them up; the authorities decide. These are the ones a Ludhiana rooftop plant meets.
Net metering — PSPCL
PSPCL is Punjab’s only distribution company, so every Ludhiana connection files with it. Since April 2026 any consumer can connect up to 100% of sanctioned load or contract demand (inverter AC rating). Net metering is capped at 500 kWp; larger plants use net billing or behind-the-meter.
The regulations, PSPCL’s consolidated copy · Punjab solar policy
Electrical-safety approval
Chief Electrical Inspector to Government of Punjab. Punjab requires inspection of every new installation above 650 V before it is energised — so an HT-connected plant needs it; we confirm whether yours does.
Panels: ALMM and DCR
Which module and cell lists apply depends on how your plant connects to the grid and on the scheme involved. Subsidy schemes set their own domestic-content (DCR) rules.
How the PSPCL application runs
- Applied online on PSPCL’s rooftop solar portal; the fee is ₹50 per kW, minimum ₹500 and maximum ₹10,000 (currently waived for homes up to 10 kWp).
- PSPCL completes the feasibility check within 15 days; a complete application up to 10 kW is deemed accepted.
- After installation, PSPCL commissions the meters within 15 days of the installation certificate.
What happens to the units you export
- Under net metering, exported units offset what you draw, and any surplus carries forward within the settlement year (October to September).
- Credits still unused at the year-end are paid out at 75% of the feed-in tariff.
- Fixed and demand charges are still billed — solar offsets energy charges.
We are listed as a non-subsidy vendor on PSPCL’s rooftop solar portal (checked 4 October 2026).
For homes: the PM Surya Ghar subsidy
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, capped at ₹78,000, for grid-connected rooftop systems on homes only — businesses do not qualify. It is paid into your account after installation and inspection, and only when the system is installed by a vendor registered on the national portal — ask any installer you shortlist, us included, to show that registration before you sign. Without the subsidy, we can quote for your home like any other site. Rates change by government order; last checked 26 August 2026 on the official portal.
What rooftop solar costs in Ludhiana
For factory and commercial rooftops, our turnkey benchmark is ₹24,000–₹32,000 per kW, excluding GST. The per-kW figure falls as the plant gets larger. Structure type, cable runs and HT-side work move the price more than the city does, so your proposal states its own price, its tax basis and what it leaves out.
Worked breakdowns by size: 100 kW, 250 kW, 500 kW and 1 MW. For a home, see prices by system size on solar for homes.
Included in the benchmark
- Modules, inverters and mounting structure
- DC and AC cabling, earthing, lightning protection
- Installation, testing and commissioning
- DISCOM liaison and net-metering approval
Not included
- Roof strengthening or civil works
- HT-side works, transformer or bay addition where the site needs one
- Battery storage
- Land, for ground-mounted alternatives
- Statutory fees
Payback depends on your tariff, how much of the output you use in daylight and the final price, so we do not print one figure for everyone. The solar calculator shows the payback for your numbers and every assumption behind it.
Solar PPA, RESCO or bank loan — which suits your factory?
Request a project-specific review of bank-financed ownership and investor-funded alternatives. Availability, borrower contribution and terms depend on project assessment and the lender or investor.
Pay upfront and own it
The plant is your asset from day one, and every unit it makes reduces what you buy from PSPCL.
Bank loan
You still fund part of it yourself: State Bank of India asks for 20% minimum for captive projects; Indian Bank asks for 25% on the cost of the equipment and erection charges. The lender decides eligibility.
PPA or RESCO
An investor owns the plant and you pay per unit. These carry tariff, tenure and roof-rights obligations; we can review whether your project suits one — an enquiry, not an offer.

What a solar quotation needs from you
- Your electricity bills — ideally the last 12 months. A new plant with no bills yet can give its planned load instead.
- Sanctioned load or contract demand — it is printed on the bill.
- The roof — type, rough area and a few photos, and whether you own it or have the owner’s permission.
- When you use power — shifts and working days. Daytime use is worth the most, and industrial connections above 50 kVA are on Punjab’s time-of-day tariff, so the hour matters as well as the units.
- DG sets — their ratings and how often they run.
- Shutdown windows — when the plant can take a short outage for the tie-in.
- How you want to pay and when you need it working.
Missing some of these? Send what you have — “not sure” is a fine answer to start.
Three warranties, from three different parties
- Modules — the manufacturer’s product warranty and its separate output (performance) warranty, both on the module datasheet.
- Inverters — the inverter manufacturer’s warranty, which differs by make and model.
- Installation and workmanship — ours, for the term written into your contract.
Ask any installer, us included, to put each one in writing: who gives it, for how long, and what it covers.

Solar in Ludhiana — straight answers
Do you install rooftop solar for homes in Ludhiana, or only for factories?
Both. We are set up mainly for factories, warehouses and commercial buildings, but homes in Ludhiana go through the same proposal form — choose "Home / residence" and we will come back on a size that suits your roof and bill. Home prices by size and how the PM Surya Ghar subsidy works are on our solar for homes page.
Who approves net metering for a rooftop solar plant in Ludhiana?
PSPCL — it is the only distribution company in Punjab, so every Ludhiana connection files with it. Under the PSERC rooftop solar regulations as amended in April 2026, any consumer can connect up to 100% of their sanctioned load or contract demand, measured as the inverter's AC rating; net metering is capped at 500 kWp, and larger plants use net billing or a behind-the-meter arrangement. PSPCL completes its feasibility check within 15 days, and a complete application up to 10 kW is deemed accepted. We prepare and file the application and follow it up; PSPCL decides. Installations above 650 V also need inspection by the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government of Punjab before they are energised.
What does commercial rooftop solar cost in Ludhiana?
Our turnkey benchmark for factory and commercial rooftops is ₹24,000–₹32,000 per kW, excluding GST — the per-kW figure falls as the plant gets larger. Roof structure, cable runs and HT-side work move the price more than the city does. Your proposal states its own price, its tax basis and what is excluded.
How soon does a solar plant pay for itself?
It depends on your tariff, how much of the solar output you use during daylight, and the final price — so we do not quote one figure for everyone. Our solar calculator shows the payback for your numbers and lists every assumption it makes, and the proposal repeats that sum with your actual bill.
Can I pay for solar through a loan or a PPA?
Bank-financed ownership is possible, but the published bank schemes we checked expect you to fund 20–25% of the project yourself, and the lender decides eligibility. Investor-funded PPA or RESCO arrangements exist in the market; for a PPA we can review whether your project suits one — that is an enquiry, not an offer.
Are you registered with PSPCL?
We are listed as a non-subsidy vendor on PSPCL's rooftop solar portal (checked 4 October 2026) — a listing, not an approval of any particular plant. A home that wants the PM Surya Ghar subsidy needs a vendor registered on the national portal for its district, so ask any installer, us included, to show that registration before you sign. Without the subsidy, we quote for a home like any other site.
Do you maintain solar plants someone else installed?
Yes — choose "Existing solar plant" in the form. Send recent generation figures or inverter screenshots on WhatsApp and an engineer will look at what the plant is producing against what it should, before suggesting cleaning, checks or repairs.
Which areas around Ludhiana do you cover?
Ludhiana city and its industrial estates — Focal Point, Industrial Areas A and B, Dhandari Kalan, Tajpur Road and Gill Road — and the rest of Ludhiana district, including Sahnewal, Doraha, Khanna, Samrala and Jagraon. We also work in Mandi Gobindgarh, which is in Fatehgarh Sahib district. All of it is covered from our Gill Road office; we have no other office in Punjab.
