For C&I rooftop plants the market band is roughly ₹500–800 per kW per year. Cleaning-and-monitoring contracts sit at the lower end; comprehensive AMCs that include electrical maintenance, inverter care, spares handling and generation reporting sit at the top. Below this band, ask exactly what has been left out — usually it is the things that fail.

Module cleaning on a defined calendar, string and inverter health checks, thermography of connections, earthing and structure inspection, generation monitoring with monthly reports, and defined response times for breakdowns. The single most valuable clause is a generation benchmark — the AMC provider committing to investigate whenever actual units fall below expected.

A dirty or partly failed plant loses generation silently — the bill just creeps back up. Soiling alone costs several percent, and one failed string can go unnoticed for months without monitoring. An AMC typically costs 1.5–2% of the plant's annual saving and protects the rest, which is why lenders and serious investors treat it as non-optional.

Monthly is the working norm in most of north India, moving to fortnightly in high-dust corridors and near Delhi NCR, and weekly during harvest-stubble or construction-dust periods. The right calendar is site-specific: the test is whether the cleaning cost is lower than the generation it recovers, which it almost always is.
