ALMM

ALMM is the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers maintained by MNRE: only enlisted module models (and, per the List-II extension, qualifying cells) are eligible for use in the government-linked and grid-connected project categories the orders cover.

Why it matters on an MEPF project

ALMM is the eligibility floor for Indian solar procurement: DISCOM processes, scheme disbursements and lender diligence all check it. Buying off-list modules for a covered project is not a discount — it is a stranded asset risk. The regime evolves (enforcement windows, list updates, and the List-II extension to cells), so procurement checks the list as of order date, not memory.

For buyers the practical discipline is verification and change-safety: model numbers on the invoice matched to the current list, and contracts that pin eligibility risk on the supplier if lists shift between order and commissioning. ALMM also interacts with DCR — listing is not domestic-content certification — and with bankability, since enlisted manufacturers have cleared MNRE's scrutiny bar.

Common mistakes

  • Checking the brand, not the exact model number.
  • Ordering ahead of an enforcement date without contractual protection.
  • Equating ALMM with DCR.
  • Ignoring list status at commissioning when timelines slip.

Frequently asked

Where do I verify ALMM status?

MNRE's published list — check the exact model against the current version at order and again near supply. We do both as EPC and warrant listing in our procurement.

Does ALMM apply to my private factory plant?

Grid-connected projects broadly fall under the orders' covered categories in current practice; off-grid/behind-the-meter edge cases follow the order text. Assume yes for net-metered plants unless the current order says otherwise.
