Integrating Solar Without Ruining Roof Aesthetics
A solar array doesn't have to wreck a clean roofline. Layout, module choice and a proper shadow study do most of the work.
Design the array, don't scatter it
Treat the array as part of the roof composition: align rows to the building grid, keep consistent tilt and spacing, set the array back behind parapets where sightlines matter, and consolidate services so the roof reads as ordered rather than cluttered.
All-black / colour-matched modules and tidy cable management make a visible array far less intrusive on prominent or overlooked roofs.
Why shadow analysis comes first
A shadow study does two jobs at once: it protects yield (inter-row self-shading and shadows from parapets, plant, lift cores and water tanks can cripple output) and it protects the elevation (it tells you how far to set back, how to space rows and where the array can sit cleanly).
Run it before you finalise the roof layout — moving a water tank or AHU 2 m can rescue both the generation and the look.
