Checking Fire NOC Application Status Online: State Portals and What Each Status Means
To check a Fire NOC application online, log in to the portal where you applied, open the applicant dashboard and search by your application or reference number. Each state runs its own portal, so there is no national tracker. Keep the acknowledgement you received on submission, because the number on it is the key. The table lists the portals we could verify.
Which portal shows the status in each state?
The links below are the official starting points as read in October 2026. Portals move and some were slow or unreachable when we checked, so if a link fails, go through the state department's own site. Where we could not confirm a status tool, the table says so.
| State | Where to apply and track | What the official pages say about status |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi | Delhi Fire Service; renewals through the linked online portal | The applicant dashboard lets you search, view and check the status of applications |
| Punjab | Department of Local Government page "Apply Fire NOC Online", linking to the fire NOC site, with a separate link for Batala | We could not read the tracking screen; use the reference number on your acknowledgement |
| Haryana | Directorate of Urban Local Bodies online services, "Login for Fire and Marriage" | The dashboard is behind login; we could not read it, so confirm the tracking steps on the portal |
| Uttar Pradesh | UP Fire Services; industrial applications from Nivesh Mitra | A NOC-UID is generated at final submission; the dashboard shows approval, objections or rejection |
| Himachal Pradesh | Department of Fire Services site or the state single window | Form A is filed online; the NOC is downloaded from the portal after the Chief Fire Officer decides |
| Rajasthan | Raj Nivesh / single window clearance system | Applicants see real-time status; a fee demand is generated after scrutiny; the NOC is downloaded after payment and approval |
| Uttarakhand | Invest Uttarakhand single window lists pre-establishment, pre-operational and annual clearance services | Status screen not verified by us |
| Maharashtra | Maharashtra Fire Services e-approval page | It states the provisional NOC is issued within 7 working days of payment UTR; it describes no status page |
Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other states are not in the table because we could not confirm an official status page for them. Ask the state fire service or the municipal body that accepts your application.
What does each status mean, and what should you do?
Portals use their own labels, so match your screen to the stage. Where we could read official wording, it is noted. UP lists approval, objections and rejection; Rajasthan generates a fee demand once scrutiny is complete.
| Stage on the portal | Usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted or registered | The application is in the queue, with a number issued | Save the acknowledgement and number; check the document list was complete |
| Under scrutiny or at fire station | An officer is reviewing the file; the case may move up the chain | No action unless days pass without movement; then call the fire station |
| Objections or query raised | The authority found a gap or mismatch | Read the objection text, fix the root cause, reply within the portal's period |
| Fee demand or payment pending | Scrutiny is done; the file waits on you | Pay through the portal and keep the receipt; many files stall here |
| Inspection pending or scheduled | A fire officer will visit to verify the installed systems | Test pumps, alarms and hydrants beforehand; have a competent person present |
| Approved or issued | The certificate can be downloaded | Download, check names, address, occupancy and expiry, and diarise renewal |
| Rejected | The application failed on grounds stated in the order | Read the grounds, correct them and re-apply or appeal as the rules allow |
What if the status does not move?
- Check the portal for a pending action on your side: a fee demand, a document upload or a clarification.
- Read any objection in full. A one-line remark often points to a drawing mismatch with the sanctioned plan.
- Call the fire station that handles your premises, with the application number ready.
- Write to the designated officer quoting the number and dates, and keep the acknowledgement.
- Use the department's grievance route. Punjab's Department of Local Government page, for example, lists a grievance site and helpline numbers.
Statutory timelines exist in some places. Himachal Pradesh's checklist states 30 days under its Public Service Guarantee Act. For most other states we found no published timeline, so write down your own filing date and chase in steps. Our guide to why industrial Fire NOC applications get delayed goes through the usual causes.
Is a pending application the same as having a NOC?
No. A submitted or approved-in-principle status is not a certificate. Delhi's FAQs describe two stages for buildings under its rules: recommendations on the plans before construction, and a certificate after construction and before occupancy, once the recommended measures are verified. Maharashtra's e-approval page likewise separates a provisional NOC from a final NOC that follows an inspection against the provisional recommendations. So when a portal shows "approved", check which stage it is, and do not treat a provisional or plan-stage approval as permission to occupy or operate. Read the downloaded document, not just the status label.
Which papers should you keep with the application?
- The acknowledgement receipt and the application, reference or UID number.
- The fee receipt and bank transaction reference.
- The drawings and calculations as submitted, with revision numbers.
- Every objection letter and your reply, with dates.
- The inspection notice or report, if issued.
If a consultant filed for you, ask for the login details or the dashboard screenshots; the application belongs to the owner. For the filing process itself, see our Fire NOC for factories guide.
How Secured Engineers helps
- We design fire systems in-house, so objections on drawings and calculations can be answered by the people who drew them.
- Fire NOC, CEIG and DISCOM filings are prepared in-house and tracked together.
- MEPF and solar can sit under one contract, so the fire file and the electrical file agree.
- We work from offices in Noida (Delhi NCR) and Ludhiana, with 535+ projects across 18+ states and 89.77% repeat clients.
- If your file is stuck, we can read the objection and the submission and tell you what to fix.

Frequently asked
Is there a single national portal to track a Fire NOC?
No. Fire services are a state subject, and each state or union territory runs its own portal, or routes applications through a municipal body or a single-window system. You track the application where you filed it, using the reference number on the acknowledgement. The National Single Window System can help identify which approvals a business needs, but the tracking sits with the issuing authority.
I lost my application number. What can I do?
Log in to the portal account you used and look in the dashboard, where applications are usually listed. If you filed through an agent, ask for the acknowledgement email or SMS, which normally carries the number. As a last resort, contact the fire station that handles your premises with the applicant name, address and date of filing. Keep the number safely once you have it.
How can I verify that a Fire NOC is genuine?
Some portals provide a public verification tool. Uttar Pradesh's fire service portal has a Verify NOC option, and certificates from Delhi Fire Service carry an application ID. Check the certificate number, premises, occupancy class and expiry against the portal. If a portal offers no verification page, ask the issuing fire office to confirm the certificate in writing.
What does an objection on my Fire NOC file usually mean?
It means the authority found something missing or inconsistent, often a drawing that does not match the sanctioned plan, a missing calculation or an incomplete document. Read the full text rather than the headline, correct the root cause across all affected sheets, and reply within the period the portal gives. A partial answer can lead to a second round.
How long should I wait before following up?
That depends on the state. Himachal Pradesh states 30 days under its Public Service Guarantee Act. For most other states we found no published timeline on the pages we read. A practical approach is to check the portal weekly, respond to any pending action immediately and follow up with the fire station if a stage has not moved for a couple of weeks.
