Fire NOC
A Fire NOC is the State Fire Service's No Objection Certificate that a building's fire-prevention and fire-fighting provisions comply with the applicable rules — granted provisionally on drawings and finally after physical inspection, with periodic renewal thereafter.
Why it matters on an MEPF project
The Fire NOC gates real business events: occupancy certificates, factory licences, many trade licences, and — increasingly decisive — insurance claims. After a loss, the first document an insurer's surveyor asks for is the current NOC and the maintenance records behind it. An expired NOC converts a fire from a tragedy into a liability argument.
The process runs twice: a provisional NOC on submitted drawings before/during construction, then the final NOC after an inspection where systems are demonstrated live — pump auto-start, hydrant pressure at the remotest outlet, alarm cause-and-effect. Renewal periodicity and procedure are state-specific; the constant is that the systems must still work on the day.

Common mistakes
- Treating the provisional NOC as the finish line and value-engineering the systems afterwards.
