Freeze process-cooling conditions before buying the machine
A machine purchase can establish cooling requirements that the building project has not yet priced. Connection size alone does not reveal the required flow, temperature, water quality, allowable pressure or behaviour during an interruption.
Obtain a complete utility schedule before placing the order. Ask the supplier to distinguish continuous duty, peak duty, start-up and cleaning requirements, and confirm how heat is rejected. Then review whether the facility's proposed system can provide those conditions at the machine connection under the relevant operating cases.
The consultant should identify any dependency that affects the purchase decision: separate cooling equipment, additional treatment, a different distribution circuit or backup arrangements. This is easier to resolve before the machine and building-services packages become separate contractual commitments. The owner should receive a signed interface definition and a testable acceptance condition rather than an instruction to arrange “suitable cooling water.”
What to confirm before the next decision
- Confirm temperature, flow, quality and pressure requirements.
- Record the machine's response to utility interruption.
- Agree the exact package boundary and acceptance test.
Ask for this review output: A machine utility schedule recording required cooling conditions, central-plant interfaces, monitoring and the party responsible for acceptance.
Discuss the consultancy scope
Provide the machine offer and utility sheet. Request a pre-order process-cooling interface check. Request a scoped MEP review. Disciplines, inputs and deliverables are agreed before an appointment; installation and authority decisions are separate.
