CEIG approval in Delhi
Delhi is the one jurisdiction in the region where the electrical inspectorate is not where you expect it. In Punjab it sits under Power; in Uttar Pradesh under Energy; in Delhi the Electrical Inspectorate sits under the Labour Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. Teams that go looking for it in an energy department lose a week before they have filed anything.

Lifts and electrical approval share one office
This is the practical quirk worth planning around. Because the Bombay Lifts Act as extended to Delhi is administered by the same inspectorate, a commercial building’s lift approvals and its electrical installation approval run through one department.
On a fit-out or a new commercial building that is an advantage if you sequence it deliberately — one relationship, one set of submissions, one queue to understand. It becomes a problem when the lift package is procured late and its approval arrives behind an occupancy date that was set assuming only the electrical file mattered.
The three-DISCOM split
Delhi has no single utility. BRPL and BYPL cover the BSES areas; TPDDL covers north and north-west Delhi. The inspectorate process is the same across the city, but the sanction, metering and energisation counterparty is determined by the site address.
This is the narrow version of a much wider NCR problem. Cross a boundary and the state, the building authority and the utility all change at once — Noida and Greater Noida under NOIDA/GNIDA with PVVNL or NPCL, Ghaziabad under UP, Gurugram and Faridabad under Haryana with DHBVN.
