What this system decides for your project
Ventilation is a life-safety and statutory requirement, not an option. Correct stair pressurisation and car-park smoke management are checked at Fire-NOC and keep occupants safe.
You need a quote for this if: High-rises, basements, commercial kitchens and industrial sheds needing code-compliant ventilation.
Scope of work
Ventilation is designed to the air-change rates and pressure differentials the code and the use require — fresh air for occupancy, staircase and lift-lobby pressurisation for smoke control under NBC 2016, car-park ventilation with CO sensing and a smoke-mode of operation, kitchen exhaust with grease handling, toilet exhaust, and jet-fan or ducted systems for basements. We select the fans, design the ducts and louvres, and specify the sensors and controls that switch between normal and fire modes.
How it is delivered — and what you receive
Pressurisation and car-park smoke systems are tested with the doors, dampers and fire-alarm interface in place, because they are checked at the fire inspection as a cause-and-effect — a fan that runs is not the same as a stair that holds pressure with the design number of doors open. Readings are recorded against the design values and the test forms part of the Fire NOC submission. The client receives the test reports, the control logic and the damper schedule.

Hiring a ventilation, pressurisation & exhaust contractor — what to check
Industrial ventilation is bought in two very different forms and the terms get used interchangeably, which is how factories end up with the wrong one. General ventilation dilutes the whole shop. Local exhaust captures the contaminant at the source. A fume problem solved with more air changes is usually a fume problem moved, not solved.
- Capture velocity at the hood, not air changes in the shed. For fume, dust or solvent extraction the number that matters is the velocity at the point of capture and the hood geometry that achieves it. Air changes per hour is the wrong specification for a source-capture problem.
- Make-up air, costed honestly. Every cubic metre extracted has to be replaced. A system designed without tempered make-up air either starves, pulls the shed into depression, or drags your heating and cooling cost up. It is the most commonly omitted line in a cheap quote.
- What the pollution board consent requires. Stack height, monitoring provision and any scrubber or filtration are conditions of your consent, not optional refinements. The design has to be the consent's design.
- Balancing and the report. Measured airflows at each hood and outlet against the design, issued as a balancing report. Without it nobody can say whether the system works.
